House training a puppy can
seem like an overwhelming task. How do I do it? When do I start? How do
I make sure I am doing it right? Don't stress it, in this article I am
going to talk about simple tips you can use to make sure your house
training efforts start off on the right foot.
Name Your Pup – The sooner your
dog can recognize and respond to his name the better. This will help
you in your house training efforts as your dog learns when you are
calling him.
Schedule Meals – Since puppies and
dogs need to use the potty shortly after eating, keeping a scheduled
food routine will also help while house training a puppy. Feeding your
dog and taking him out to go to the bathroom at the same time each day
will help your dog go when you are out and not go in between sessions.
Puppy Potty Training – Right after
meals take your puppy out for a walk or go outside in the back yard.
Try and get your puppy to go in the same spot of the yard every time.
This will help you in your cleaning up efforts and will also help
associate to your puppy that he is to go to the bathroom when you take
him to this spot of the yard.
Remember to have patience while house
training a puppy. He is still really young and cannot full control his
bladder or stools. Some accidents will happen, but they will be further
and fewer in between as you keep working on training your puppy the
right way to go. It may take up to a year to fully work out all the
kinks in the house training process, but don't fret, things will get
easier.
The sooner you start the better so don't
delay any longer. If you feel like you need a little bit more help make
sure to check out Dog Train Academy. They have taught me so much about
training my own dogs and are very inexpensive. It is completely
online-based so can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
